New Beginnings

When I founded Averson Design in 2017,

I did not do so without hesitation (most business owners experience this, or so I hear). I felt a strong tug to throw myself into work that aligned with my values, and I wasn’t sure if this was going to be my golden ticket. I had to try to find out. A small business owner for small business owners, I empathize with the woes of maintaining a grassroots brand while trying to pay the bills. Quite frankly, it’s not the romance of having my own business that keeps me in this: it’s you. It’s the entrepreneurs, the leaders, the fellow creative minds, and the folks doing unequivocally good work in the world that keep me energized and alive in my calling. I always say I started Averson because I wanted to help people; design just happens to be a skill I can offer.

I have been so grateful over the last few years to grow alongside and because of many of you, and from that, I have asked myself two key questions. The first question is “how can I support my clients better?” As a client-centered business, I want Averson to be a place where clients can take a deep breath of relief when they realize they are going to be guided through a notoriously complicated process with both clarity and care. In asking that question, ideas began to swarm my head of all of the things I could or should be doing better for clients. While this was exciting to think of growth and new offerings, it was also overwhelming, which is a feeling you probably understand well. This is when I asked myself what I often ask my clients: “what is it that I truly love to do at Averson and what would I need to add or outsource in order to get Averson to a place where we are serving clients even better?”

The first answer was relatively simple:

I love guiding clients to purpose and clarity in the branding process and I’ve enjoyed learning how to operate a small business as well. In short, I didn’t really want to change my job description; I just wanted to be able to offer more

I grabbed a couple friends (literally, which will be a fun story to tell a different time) and we started dreaming about what it would look like to expand the umbrella of Averson from beyond just visual design but to a full branding studio.

That brings us to today.

After months and years of dreaming and casting vision, I’m so excited to announce that Averson Design has now grown into Averson Creative.

Averson Creative exists to help small business owners find clarity and purpose within their brand. Our comprehensive brand services are designed to support you as your brand grows; empowering you with a clear vision, integrated purpose, and the tools to make it all happen.

Here’s what that means:

1 - Averson Creative is here to support the life of your brand.

Everyone has to start somewhere in their business. We want to be a go-to resource for all things branding from your earliest brainstorming and through every ensuing stage of growth. Averson’s new approach is designed to meet you where you are, whether you’ve been at this for 10 minutes or over 10 years.

Are you trying to understand what the buzzword “brand” even means?
We’ve got you.

Are you ready to get crystal clear on who your audience is?
Let’s strategize.

Ready for a custom brand and website to propel you forward?
We can do that.

Are you in need of design and marketing assistance in this new season of growth?
We are here for it.

2 - Averson Creative offers comprehensive brand services.

Developing a consistent brand presence is so much more than visual design work. We have a saying here at Averson called, “Behind the Brand”, which is meant to get at exactly this idea.

What really gives a brand purpose or meaning is  what lies behind, beneath, or within it. This could be your mission, the importance of your services, your personality, your story: it all matters.

Someone can have the fanciest, spiffiest logo or website in the entire world, but if it doesn’t offer substance or purpose for your audience or clientele, then what good is it actually doing? We need both. Visual design should support brand content, in the same way brand content should be reflected in excellent visual design.

I started realizing that my clients needed more than what I was originally offering. You need a strong brand strategy, photography or videography, you need someone to write your website for you (and save you from that torture!), and when you finally had that shiny new brand and website, you’ll need guidance on how to market it all! This is why Averson is moving from a solo venture to a small team. We take an interdisciplinary approach to branding, saving you the time (and money) of hopping from one service provider to another, and cultivating a brand presence that is accessible, sustainable, and fully “you.”

3 - Averson Creative is a partner for the long haul.

One of the most meaningful parts of my job is getting to know my clients and watching their business evolve and grow. Loyalty is a deep personal value and one that I try to live out in the way I run my business. It’s a privilege to cheer my clients on and offer support as they lean into the mission and purpose of their brand. This is why we are creating new ways to support small businesses as they grow, and bringing even more support to existing and previous clients of Averson as they seek to execute their brand. Once you work with us, we are here for good. We want you to give you the tools to make it all happen and make working with us as easy as possible as needs arise.

I can’t wait to introduce you to the team and what’s ahead for Averson. It is our hope that this new approach will support your business and brand in new ways.

But ultimately, we hope it supports you.

It is our hope that an integrated brand with a clear purpose will not only make your business better, but also your life. We see you because we are you: we get that life is messy and there is so much to you as a person beyond the brand you create. You - your whole self - is important to us, because when you are at your best, you carry power, vision, and impact that may start with a website or a marketing strategy, but may have the ability to change the whole world.
